Someone At CBS Left The Door Open…

… and a reporter with some sense of journalistic ethics got in and wrote a story.  Of course, they made him clearly labeled it as, ‘An Opinion Column From Declan McCullagh.”  No such caveat would have graced this had it been supportive of stripping the rights of citizens or had been blatantly anti-gun.  But it’s still amazing it ended up being published.  Maybe we can just chalk this up to CBS getting its digs in at NBC?

I kept reading it again and again looking for the Mathewsesque handwringing about stupid-rednecks commoners unwashed-masses freaks un-ordained Non-Police Officers having guns.

“OH TEH NOEZ!  He had a sign quoting one of the Founders!  ZOMG!  He’s calling for tyrants to have to answer for their crimes!  QUICK!  Circle the wagons and cover TheOne™ before they realize he has no clothes!  Our Savior hasn’t even left DC yet, but this can’t go unchallenged!  Calamity and Woe!  A CITIZEN HAS A GUN AND DOESN’T LIKE HIS LIBERTIES INFRINGED!  STOP HIM!  FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WILL THE LAW STOP HIM!”

But I didn’t see any of that.  You can now send all job postings in you area to Mr. MuCullagh.  I’m sure he’ll need the work after this.  No way CBS lets him back in the castle.

Now let me say this, if Mr. Kostric would have taken a gun IN THE PRESENCE OF THE POTUS, I’d have absolutely no sympathy for him when they hauled his butt to jail.  But he didn’t.  Did he push the envelope socially? Yes.  Did he push it legally?  It appears not.  That is not to say that I have a problem with LAW ABIDING CITIZENS carrying openly in the presence of the POTUS, but the laws are what the laws are and if he would have violated them…  Don’t pee up a rope then complain about warm rain is all I’m sayin’.

Now to the sign.  Let me give you some examples of Bush Hate that the Left says was A-OK!  That’s right sports fans, it’s GREAT to want to “Smush Bush” and all the other rot, but we can’t DARE quote a Founder of this country.   Jefferson may not have been infallible, but on the subject of Government, he was the closest thing to “inspired” since the penning of the New Testament.  Let’s see why Jefferson is so dangerous and mean spirited in today’s civilized world:

Delay is preferable to error.

Um… you get that Congress who doesn’t have time to read bills because they have to be passed yesterday?

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.

I guess that’s why we now have a state run media.

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Nope!  Can’t have people quoting that.  Then we couldn’t have power grab bailouts.

Leave no authority existing not responsible to the people.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

No one teaches that one in Civics class, do they?

Here are two for our be-strapped protester:

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
One man with courage is a majority.

And one final quote that we should all take to heart:

Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence.

Doesn’t exactly tend the mind toward warm fuzzies given how close we are to the fall of our once great Republic.

Conservative, educated, understands history, distrusts government, distrusts politicians, dislikes pop-culture, and carries a firearm. In short, I'm what The Framers of The Constitution were counting on and everything your government wants you to fear most.

The only thing I don’t have to complain about is some GI taking up space in my living room. I’ll let you know about the Civil Courts if someone ever owes more than $20 to me. ---If you didn’t get that one; sue your Civics or US History Teacher.

dantes firing range -A T-
Remove the spaces and convert the -AT- to... you know the drill. In VB Script that's: Value = replace (replace ("dantes firing range -A T-", " ",""), "-AT-", chr(64))
